Saudi Aramco’s Jizan Oil Facilities Hit in Fresh Attacks

Saudi Arabia’s strategic Jizan oil facilities, operated by Saudi Aramco, have come under fresh attack, prompting emergency response measures and intensifying fears of renewed disruption to global energy markets. The strikes targeted infrastructure in the Red Sea industrial city of Jizan, where one of the kingdom’s largest refineries is located.

The Jizan complex is home to a 400,000-barrel-per-day refinery alongside processing plants, storage infrastructure and export facilities, making it one of Saudi Arabia’s most important downstream energy hubs. Saudi authorities have not reported major production losses, but the incident has already heightened anxiety across commodity markets. Brent crude has climbed toward $100 per barrel as traders price in the risk that further attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure could tighten global oil supplies.

The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the wider wave of attacks across southern Saudi Arabia, saying the strikes were carried out in retaliation for military operations in Yemen. Saudi Arabia has condemned the attacks as terrorism targeting civilian and strategic infrastructure, while vowing to respond firmly.

Beyond the immediate damage, the strike on Jizan highlights the strategic importance of protecting energy infrastructure in an increasingly volatile region. As one of the world’s leading oil exporters, any sustained disruption to Saudi Aramco’s refining network has the potential to ripple through fuel prices, inflation and energy security far beyond the Middle East.
