The United Arab Emirates recorded a seasonal low of 16.9°C on Mebreh Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 3:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026. Official meteorological data showed the reading surpassed the previous autumn record of 18.6°C registered late last month.

The National Centre of Meteorology confirmed that the mountain peak logged the coldest reading in the country as autumn transition patterns expand over high-altitude zones. The temperature dip marks a welcome milestone for residents across the country after months of intense summer heat.

Coldest Reading of the Season at Ras Al Khaimah Peak Mebreh Mountain, situated adjacent to Jebel Jais in the Hajar Mountain range, regularly records the lowest daily temperatures in the UAE due to its elevation. The 16.9°C mark represents a 1.7-degree drop below the 18.6°C reading logged at Raknah in Al Ain on September 28.

Temperatures in the country first dipped beneath the 20°C threshold during late September. The latest drop indicates that high-altitude mountainous areas are cooling steadily as night-time radiational cooling intensifies across the Northern Emirates.

Weather stations on mountain ridges across Ras Al Khaimah continue to see lower minimum readings compared to coastal and interior desert cities, where daytime highs remain warmer.

Autumn Transition and Rainfall Outlook Across Emirates October represents a primary transitional weather window in the Arabian Peninsula, bridging the harsh summer months and mild winter conditions. Official forecasts indicate average national maximum temperatures will gradually ease from early-autumn peaks near 39°C down toward 26°C over the coming weeks.

Forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology reported fair to partly cloudy skies across most emirates, with convective cloud activity building toward eastern and northern territories. The agency noted that these convective cloud formations bring an isolated chance of light to moderate rainfall over elevated terrain.

Winds remain light to moderate, occasionally kicking up blowing dust in exposed open desert areas during daytime hours.

Outdoor Season Returns for Residents and Campers The steady decline in overnight and dawn temperatures has revitalised outdoor life across the UAE. Parks, public beaches, desert campsites, and mountain trekking routes are seeing rising foot traffic as early mornings turn crisp.

Campers, hikers, and weekend motorists are already heading toward the northern peaks to take advantage of the mild weather. Authorities advise visitors venturing into mountain roads and wadis to exercise care during early mornings due to variable visibility and changing weather patterns along the slopes.

Gear and Planning for UAE Mountain Travel Travellers planning dawn hikes or overnight camping across the Hajar mountains should prepare suitable thermal outerwear and check live weather updates before departing. Packing windproof layers, reliable navigation gear, and plenty of water ensures safe and comfortable travel along remote mountain trails.
