UAE Expands Jobseeker Visa as New Rules Open Doors for Skilled Workers

The United Arab Emirates has introduced updated rules for its Jobseeker Visit Visa, broadening access for qualified foreign nationals and reinforcing its strategy to attract skilled talent from around the world. The revised framework allows eligible applicants to enter the UAE specifically to search for employment without requiring a local employer or sponsor before arrival.

The changes were announced as part of the UAE’s ongoing immigration and labour reforms aimed at strengthening the country’s position as a global destination for professionals, entrepreneurs and highly skilled workers. Officials say the updated visa simplifies the pathway for international talent while ensuring applicants meet defined educational and financial standards.

Under the updated policy, the Jobseeker Visit Visa is available to foreigners who fall into one of several recognized categories. Applicants may qualify if they are graduates of one of the world’s leading universities, possess specialized professional skills classified under the UAE’s approved occupational levels, or hold at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

Authorities have also maintained minimum age and passport validity requirements, with applicants expected to hold a valid passport and satisfy all immigration conditions before travelling. Unlike traditional employment visas, the jobseeker visa does not require sponsorship from a company or resident in the UAE.

The updated scheme offers 60-day, 90-day and 120-day visa options, giving jobseekers greater flexibility depending on how long they intend to remain in the country while exploring employment opportunities.

Applicants are generally required to provide:

A valid passport with sufficient validity.

A recent passport-sized photograph.

Proof of educational qualifications.

Evidence of financial ability to support themselves during their stay.

Any additional documents requested by UAE immigration authorities.

Officials have advised applicants to submit their requests through the UAE’s official digital immigration platforms or authorized service centres before travelling.

The Jobseeker Visit Visa complements the UAE’s wider residency reforms, including the Golden Visa, Green Visa and expanded work permit categories designed to attract professionals in technology, healthcare, engineering, finance and other high-demand sectors.

Labour market analysts say the latest update reflects increasing competition among global economies to attract skilled workers, particularly as countries seek to address talent shortages and diversify their knowledge-based industries. For many international graduates and experienced professionals, the ability to search for employment without first securing a sponsor removes one of the biggest barriers to entering the UAE job market.

The revised visa framework is likely to strengthen the UAE’s appeal as a regional employment hub, offering qualified foreigners a clearer legal route to explore career opportunities while supporting the country’s long-term economic diversification and workforce development goals.
