Tim Seifert is a New Zealand cricketer who bats right-handed and plays as a wicketkeeper. Best known for his attacking approach in Twenty20 cricket, he has represented New Zealand in both T20 internationals and one-day internationals. His career spans domestic cricket with Northern Districts and appearances in major overseas franchise leagues.

Early life and domestic career

Seifert was born on 14 December 1994 in Whanganui, New Zealand. He represented his country at the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup before establishing himself in senior domestic cricket.

Playing for Northern Districts, he developed a reputation as a quick-scoring batter capable of opening the innings and keeping wicket. In December 2017, he struck a 40-ball century against Auckland in the Super Smash. The innings set a record for the fastest century in New Zealand domestic T20 cricket at the time and helped raise his profile ahead of international selection.

International career

Seifert made his T20 international debut against England in Wellington in February 2018. His one-day international debut followed against Sri Lanka in January 2019.

One of his early international highlights came against India in Wellington in February 2019. Opening the batting, he scored 84 from 43 balls as New Zealand won the first T20 international of the series. The innings demonstrated his ability to attack a leading international bowling side during the powerplay and beyond.

He was also part of New Zealand's squad at the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, where the team reached the final before losing to Australia.

Franchise cricket and playing style

Seifert's overseas teams have included Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, and Melbourne Renegades in Australia's Big Bash League.

His main strengths are rapid scoring at the top of the order and the flexibility offered by his wicketkeeping. Although his international reputation rests primarily on white-ball cricket, his domestic background also includes first-class competition. That combination has supported a career across different formats, teams and playing conditions.
