State leaders gathered at Okpara Square in Enugu have announced that South-East governors back Tinubu 2027 campaigns to safeguard the region’s economic and social future. The collective appeal was delivered during the All Progressives Congress Women Mega Rally and Empowerment Programme for the South-East, an event flagged off by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The cross-party endorsement brought together Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State. Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State was officially represented by his Deputy Governor, Dr. Gilbert Ibezim.

Addressing thousands of delegates, the governors urged citizens across the five eastern states to ignore misleading political voices and protect ongoing national reforms. The unified stance shows how South-East governors back Tinubu 2027 momentum to keep the region tied to central economic planning.

Increased Revenue Drives State Infrastructure Projects

Host governor Dr. Peter Mbah stated that the courageous economic policies introduced by the federal government have made substantially higher revenues available to state administrations. He pointed to new Smart Green Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in Enugu as concrete evidence of those financial dividends.

The governor emphasised that major national changes require patience and steady resolve during challenging periods. He compared governance to steering a ship, remarking that an experienced crew does not abandon a voyage mid-sea simply because the waters become rough.

Mbah noted that the Igbo people are strategic bridge builders who establish enterprises and goodwill nationwide rather than retreating into ethnic boundaries. Explaining why South-East governors back Tinubu 2027 continuity, he urged residents to secure their voter cards and support governing party candidates in upcoming elections.

The Enugu governor also highlighted an empowerment drive assisting 5,000 women across the South-East. This followed a state-level outreach that provided medical bill clearance and business tools to more than 2,000 local women within a 48-hour period.

Expanding Highways, Pensions, and Party Loyalty

Governor Hope Uzodimma reaffirmed the region’s commitment to the president, declaring that an effective and winning leadership team should never be changed mid-stream. He explained that after experiencing political marginalisation for over sixty years, the South-East is finally witnessing authentic inclusion and expanded federal development.

The Imo governor credited federal revenue gains with helping his administration build major arterial highways, including the roads linking Owerri to Okigwe, Umuahia, Orlu, and Port Harcourt. Improved state finances have also guaranteed consistent pension disbursements, regular civil service wages, and thirteenth-month bonus payments for public workers.

Governor Francis Nwifuru declared that securing the re-election of the president remains the primary political mission for the Igbo electorate in 2027. He dismissed speculation that he was involved in any opposition alliance, stressing that his full loyalty remains with the governing party and its development manifesto.

Deputy Governor Gilbert Ibezim, representing Governor Soludo, added that the eastern region holds a civic obligation to appreciate tangible federal achievements through sustained political collaboration.

Two-Term Vision and Grassroots Prosperity

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, also addressed the assembly, stating that South-East governors back Tinubu 2027 re-election plans while safeguarding long-term regional aspirations. He stressed that the Igbo will not agree to any shortened, single-term presidency arrangement by anyone, arguing that easterners must build broad national alliances to secure an eight-year presidential mandate when their turn arrives.

Kalu reminded the crowd that the president included eastern leaders in his cabinet when serving as governor of Lagos State decades ago. He praised the enactment of the South East Development Commission as an essential legislative breakthrough that directly confronts the zone’s long-standing infrastructure needs.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu delivered a message of encouragement, telling the audience that difficult economic labour is now giving way to national delivery and prosperity. She distributed business equipment, including sewing units, grain mills, and power generators, stating that real governance pairs grassroots empowerment with political mobilisation.

Prominent dignitaries at the Okpara Square gathering included Hajiya Nana Shettima, Mrs. Uloma Akpabio, federal cabinet ministers, parliamentary leaders, party officials, and prominent industrialist Chief Arthur Eze.
