Singapore Airlines Crowned World’s Best Airline for 2026

Singapore Airlines has been named the World’s Best Airline for 2026, reclaiming the aviation industry’s most prestigious title at the Skytrax World Airline Awards held on Friday at London’s historic Langham Hotel. The victory marks the carrier’s sixth overall win in the awards’ 25-year history and returns the trophy to Singapore after Qatar Airways claimed the top honour in 2025.

The annual Skytrax awards are determined through one of the world’s largest global airline passenger satisfaction surveys, with travellers rating carriers across categories including cabin comfort, customer service, inflight catering, airport experience, Wi-Fi and cleanliness. The ceremony brought together executives and cabin crew from the world’s leading airlines to celebrate excellence across commercial aviation.

Singapore Airlines’ latest triumph adds to previous World’s Best Airline titles won in 2023, 2018 and several earlier editions during the 2000s. Accepting the honour, Chief Executive Goh Choon Phong described the recognition as “a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our people,” paying tribute to the airline’s employees whose service continues to define its global reputation.

The carrier also enjoyed success beyond the overall title, winning awards for World’s Best Economy Class and Best Economy Class Catering, reinforcing its long-standing strength across both premium and economy travel experiences. This year’s rankings again highlighted the dominance of Asian and Middle Eastern carriers. The top six airlines are:

Skytrax Chief Executive Edward Plaisted noted that the World’s Best Airline title has remained largely within an elite group of seven carriers over the past quarter-century, underscoring the remarkable consistency of the industry’s highest-performing brands. Notably, British Airways, a previous winner, fell out of this year’s leading group, while no U.S. airline featured among the top-ranked carriers. Air Canada was the only North American airline represented in the upper rankings.

Although it surrendered the overall crown, Qatar Airways remained one of the ceremony’s biggest winners. The Doha-based carrier was named Best Airline in the Middle East and also collected awards for World’s Best Business Class, Best Onboard Wi-Fi and Best Business Class Lounge.

Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific received honours for its cabin crew and First Class Airline Lounge, highlighting the continued strength of premium service among Asia’s leading airlines.

The 2026 results reaffirm a broader trend in global aviation: while aircraft and technology continue to evolve, exceptional customer experience remains the defining factor separating the world’s best airlines.
