The Enugu State APC Campaign Council was officially inaugurated on Tuesday during an assembly at the International Conference Centre in Enugu. Governor Peter Mbah presided over the ceremony, unveiling a 51-directorate political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The unveiling signals a major political consolidation across the Coal City State. The coalition unites prominent statesmen, former governors, federal lawmakers, and past political rivals under a single platform.

Addressing thousands of party faithful, Governor Mbah urged members to campaign boldly on his administration’s track record in infrastructure, education, and security. He described rival factions as shallow and unprepared for governance.

Political Heavyweights Unite Under Advisory Board

The newly constituted council features a high-powered advisory body made up of influential elder statesmen. Former Senate President Ken Nnamani and former Old Anambra State Governor Jim Nwobodo head the advisory list.

The structure also integrates business mogul Prince Arthur Eze and former Minister of Power Barth Nnaji. Significantly, Frank Nweke Jr., who contested the 2023 governorship election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), joined the council's leadership.

Former Chief of the Naval Staff Rear Admiral Allison Madueke and former deputy governors Cecilia Ezeilo and Sunday Onyebuchi were also named. Their presence reflects a broad-based political realignment aimed at establishing stability across all three senatorial zones.

Strategic Operational Structure and Directorate Leadership

Governor Mbah serves as Chairman of the Campaign Council, supported by Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai and House of Assembly Speaker Uchenna Ugwu as Vice Chairmen. APC State Chairman Dr. Martin Chukwunweike and Secretary to the State Government Prof. Chidiebere Onyia also hold vice-chairmanship seats.

Chief Charlie Mbah was appointed Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, with Dr. Eric Oluedo serving as Secretary-General. Senatorial coordination was assigned to Senator Osita Ngwu for Enugu West, Senator Ikeje Asogwa for Enugu North, and Senator Kelvin Chukwu for Enugu East.

The council established dedicated operational units to oversee grassroots mobilisation. Retired Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla heads the Security Directorate alongside former Inspector General of Police Ogbonna Onovo, while veteran media aides lead strategic communications.

Campaigning on Economic Milestones and Fiscal Reforms

During his keynote address, Governor Mbah pointed to substantial economic gains achieved since taking office in May 2023. He highlighted that Enugu advanced from 30th to third nationally in internally generated revenue growth.

He noted that aggressive fiscal reforms and federal macroeconomic stability have freed up capital for smart green schools and modern healthcare facilities. The governor instructed campaign officials to organize ward-by-ward tours to showcase completed public projects.

With grassroots structures now mobilized across all 17 local government areas, the inauguration sets the political tone for the state. Opposition parties in Enugu face a formidable alliance as preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle intensify.
