Dubai’s Global Village Opens Season 31 With Parade and 600-Drone Show

Dubai’s Global Village has launched its 31st season with a packed opening night featuring a parade celebrating cultures from around the world, a confetti-filled welcome and a spectacular display involving 600 drones, as residents and tourists gathered at one of the United Arab Emirates’ best-known seasonal entertainment destinations.

The attraction opened to visitors at 6pm on Wednesday, October 14, under the theme “A More Wonderful World”. The celebrations included a choir performance, the Parade of the World, live entertainment and a nighttime aerial display that illuminated the sky above the venue. Visitors continued arriving well into the evening, while families explored the pavilions, food outlets, rides and other attractions.

The new season will run until May 2027, bringing together 29 pavilions representing more than 90 cultures. According to information released by Global Village and Dubai Media, the destination features more than 3,500 shopping outlets, over 250 dining options and more than 200 attractions. Organizers also plan to stage approximately 40,000 shows during the season, covering music, dance, acrobatics and other live performances.

The opening-night drone display was among the main attractions, with 600 drones forming images and designs above the venue. The Parade of the World offered another highlight, bringing together performers in colourful costumes accompanied by music and movement inspired by different cultures. Visitors also gathered around Dragon Lake to watch its illuminated displays, while food stalls and restaurants drew crowds looking to sample dishes from different countries.

Season 31 introduces several changes alongside returning favourites. The Sri Lanka Pavilion, as well as the Russia and Azerbaijan pavilions, feature refreshed experiences, while the Syria and Kuwait pavilions have new façades. A redesigned season passport and a new children’s passport will allow visitors to collect stamps as they explore the destination.

Food remains a major part of the experience, with new restaurants and cafés joining the line-up. New additions include Trabzon Turkish Restaurant, Robo Al Sham, Hawawshi Al Rabie and Chicking at Restaurant Plaza, alongside cafés offering coffee, desserts and other refreshments. Familiar attractions such as Dragon Kingdom, The Horror Hotel, Secrets of the Lost City and Exo Planet City are also returning. A new roller coaster, Tokyo Rush, is scheduled to debut later in the season.

The venue has also introduced changes intended to improve visitor movement and convenience, including expanded ticketing capacity, clearer directional signs, additional family washrooms and a new self-payment system for VIP parking. The changes come as the destination prepares to accommodate visitors throughout the cooler months, when outdoor entertainment becomes a major draw for residents and tourists in Dubai.

Global Village began in 1997 as a much smaller attraction featuring kiosks showcasing international products during the Dubai Shopping Festival. Over the years, it has developed into a large-scale destination combining cultural pavilions, retail, international cuisine, rides and live shows in one venue. Its appeal lies in allowing visitors to experience a range of countries and traditions without travelling between them.

For the new season, entry tickets are priced at Dh25 on weekdays and Dh30 on weekends and public holidays, according to Khaleej Times. Global Village’s published schedule lists opening hours from 4pm to midnight from Sunday to Wednesday, and until 1am from Thursday to Saturday and on public holidays. Tuesdays, except public holidays, are reserved for families, couples and women.

With its mix of international culture, shopping, food and entertainment, Global Village remains a significant part of Dubai’s seasonal tourism offering. The opening-night turnout provides an early indication of the interest surrounding Season 31, which will continue through May with new attractions and performances designed to appeal to families, residents and international visitors alike.
