Dubai Gold Prices Hold Steady as 21K Trades at Dh400.5 Per Gram
Stable bullion prices are giving UAE jewellery buyers and investors a brief pause after weeks of market volatility.
Gold prices in Dubai remained largely unchanged on Friday morning, with 21-karat gold trading at Dh400.5 per gram, as investors weighed the impact of U.S. interest rate policy, persistent inflation concerns and ongoing geopolitical tensions.
According to data from the Dubai Jewellery Group, the opening retail prices stood at Dh526.75 for 24K gold, Dh487.25 for 22K, Dh467.25 for 21K and Dh400.5 for 18K gold. The steady pricing follows recent swings in the precious metals market and offers some stability for consumers across the UAE.
Spot gold traded almost flat at around US$4,366 per ounce, reflecting cautious investor sentiment after the U.S. Federal Reserve signalled that inflation remains a concern and indicated the possibility of another interest rate increase later this year. Analysts say higher interest rates typically reduce the appeal of non-yielding assets such as gold by lifting bond yields and strengthening the U.S. dollar.
At the same time, silver gained about 0.8%, while traders continued to monitor oil prices and supply disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East, factors that can increase demand for gold as a traditional safe-haven asset.
Dubai remains one of the world’s busiest gold retail markets, attracting residents, tourists and international investors seeking competitive pricing and high-purity jewellery. The stability in Friday’s rates may encourage buyers who delayed purchases during recent price fluctuations, particularly ahead of the region’s busy festive and wedding shopping season.
Market analysts say gold’s near-term direction will largely depend on incoming economic data from the United States, including inflation and retail spending figures, alongside future guidance from major central banks. Softer monetary policy signals could support bullion prices, while additional rate hikes may place renewed pressure on the metal.
Although prices are steady for now, the broader outlook remains closely tied to global economic uncertainty. For investors and jewellery buyers alike, Dubai’s gold market continues to reflect the delicate balance between inflation, interest rates and geopolitical risk that is shaping precious metals worldwide.
