Brandy Headlines Flytime’s 2026 Detty December R&B Concert in Lagos

American singer and actress Brandy Norwood is set to headline Flytime’s House of R&B concert in Lagos on Sunday, December 20, 2026, as the Nigerian entertainment industry prepares for its annual festive-season rush.

The concert will take place at the Eko Convention Centre, with Brandy becoming the first international act announced for the event. She also confirmed her appearance in a video message, inviting fans to attend and directing them to the event’s Instagram page for further information.

The performance will open Flytime Promotions’ six-night December programme, which brings together different live music experiences during one of the busiest periods on Lagos’s entertainment calendar.

Brandy’s booking is particularly notable for an event built around R&B, a genre whose influence extends across generations of contemporary music. Widely known as “The Vocal Bible,” the singer has built a career spanning more than three decades, combining a distinctive vocal style with a catalogue that includes Never Say Never, Full Moon and the Grammy-winning duet The Boy Is Mine with Monica.

Her arrival in Lagos comes during a significant year for the entertainer. In 2026, Brandy received the Black Music Icon Award from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective, published her memoir PHASES and was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. These milestones add further weight to her appearance at the December concert.

Flytime founder and chief executive Cecil Hammond described Brandy as a natural fit for the show, saying her music and influence reflect the identity of House of R&B. Chief operating officer Keke Hammond also said the company intends to give each night of its December programme a distinct identity and experience. The comments reflect the organiser’s ambition to make the concert series more than a succession of performances by individual artists.

Six Nights Of Music Planned For Lagos Brandy’s performance is the opening event in a wider programme running through Christmas Day. Flytime’s announced schedule places Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged on December 21, Flytime Fest Powered by Coca-Cola from December 22 to 24, and Flytime Circle on December 25. All four event brands are scheduled to take place at the Eko Convention Centre.

The remaining artist line-ups are yet to be announced, according to the organiser’s published programme. Fans will therefore have to wait for further details about the performers scheduled for the other nights.

The concert also arrives against the backdrop of Lagos’s established Detty December season, when returning Nigerians, members of the diaspora and international visitors converge on the city for music, nightlife and cultural events.

Flytime, founded by Hammond in 2004, has spent more than two decades building its presence in Nigeria’s live entertainment industry through events including Rhythm Unplugged and Flytime Fest. Its past line-ups have featured Nigerian stars such as Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Rema, alongside international performers including Boyz II Men and Megan Thee Stallion.

Brandy’s booking brings a different musical emphasis to this year’s calendar, placing a veteran American R&B performer at the centre of the opening night rather than relying exclusively on the Afrobeats acts that often dominate conversations around Lagos’s festive-season concerts.

For Lagos, the significance extends beyond one headline performance. International bookings of this kind help strengthen the city’s position as a destination for live entertainment, while giving audiences opportunities to experience established global artists alongside the African music scene. Whether the full December programme delivers on that promise will depend on its remaining line-ups and the experience offered to concertgoers, but Brandy’s announcement gives Flytime’s 2026 season an early international focal point.
