AY Apologises After Cardiff Comedy Show Disruption
Veteran Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun has issued a formal apology after an unresolved financial dispute left his Cardiff comedy concert in disarray. The entertainer demanded full accountability and prompt ticket refunds for audience members caught in the fallout.

AY apologises after Cardiff comedy show disruption left hundreds of paying ticket holders stranded without a performance. The Nigerian comedian and actor, formally known as Ayo Makun, broke his silence on Monday to address severe delays and confusion that disrupted the Welsh leg of his comedy tour.
The event, staged under the banner "AY Live: Single and Not Searching," was scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 25, at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff. Disgruntled attendees took to social media after waiting hours in the auditorium, with many exiting the venue before any headline acts took the stage.
Contractual Standoff Stalls Performance Schedule In a statement and video explanation published across his verified social media channels, Makun explained that he and his fellow touring comedians had travelled to Cardiff and were physically present on site. However, an impasse over contractual obligations prevented them from appearing on schedule.
Makun stated that unresolved financial commitments from the local event organisers triggered the prolonged delay. By the time the performers resolved the standoff and entered the main auditorium, the vast majority of attendees had already vacated the hall in frustration.
The entertainer firmly stated that paying fans should never have been dragged into administrative disagreements between show promoters and talent.
"You deserved a properly organised show and timely information," Makun said in his statement. "You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute."
Call for Full Ticket Refunds and Audience Compensation Acknowledging the reputational damage and consumer frustration, Makun called directly upon the event promoters and UK tour management to initiate prompt refunds for affected patrons.
He insisted that fans who invested their time and money deserved immediate clarity regarding reimbursement procedures. The comedian pledged that verified updates on refund arrangements would be published transparently through his official communication channels.
Promoter liability in international touring has faced heightened scrutiny across the diaspora entertainment sector, where logistical friction often impacts high-profile shows. Makun noted that over his two-decade career, audience goodwill has remained paramount, making the incident particularly regrettable.
Upcoming Tour Dates in Birmingham, London, and Manchester Despite the disruption in Wales, Makun confirmed that the remaining legs of the "AY Live" tour across the United Kingdom will proceed as scheduled.
Tour dates in Birmingham on October 30, London on October 31, and Manchester on November 1 remain on track. The production team is reviewing operational arrangements with regional partners to avoid any repeat of the administrative breakdown witnessed in Cardiff.
