2027 Race: Peter Obi Calls for Credible, Deliverable Manifestos

Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has cautioned politicians against making unrealistic campaign promises ahead of the 2027 general election, urging Nigerians to demand honesty, competence and practical solutions rather than rhetoric designed to win votes.

Speaking at a political gathering in Kaduna, Obi said political leaders must resist the temptation to promise what they know cannot be delivered. He argued that the country’s deep economic and social challenges require credible policies, disciplined governance and transparent communication with citizens instead of unrealistic pledges.

The former Anambra State governor told supporters that leadership should be measured by integrity and the ability to implement achievable programmes. He maintained that rebuilding public trust begins with telling Nigerians the truth about the difficult decisions required to revive the economy, create jobs and strengthen national institutions.

Obi’s remarks came during an event where he outlined elements of his vision for Nigeria, including greater investment in agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and youth employment.
