Dolly Parton’s Estate Seeks Court Order Against Nephew Over Alleged Threats

The estate of legendary country music star Dolly Parton has asked a Tennessee court for a temporary restraining order against her nephew, Bryan Seaver, alleging that he made escalating threats of violence and vowed to destroy his aunt’s brand, legacy and business empire following her death. The allegations are contained in court documents filed in Nashville on Tuesday and mark the first major legal dispute surrounding the administration of Parton’s estate.

According to the filings, the request was brought by She’s Alive, the entity responsible for managing and protecting Parton’s professional property and business interests. The organization, led by Parton’s longtime manager Danny Nozell, claims Seaver sent increasingly threatening text messages and emails over several weeks, prompting concerns for the safety of employees, attorneys and business partners.

Seaver is no stranger to Parton’s inner circle. He owned the security company that protected the singer’s properties for nearly two decades and was personally entrusted by Parton with announcing her death from cancer in August. However, the estate says his security firm, Squadron Augmented Protection Services, was terminated last week because his alleged conduct made their continued relationship untenable.

The court documents describe messages in which Seaver allegedly threatened to damage Dolly Parton’s commercial partnerships and public image. In one message cited in the complaint, he allegedly proposed creating a podcast dedicated to exposing what he claimed were violations committed against him and his team, while demanding payment. The filings also allege that Seaver invoked his claimed experience with private military contractors overseas as part of the threatening communications.

The estate argues that the alleged threats have already had tangible consequences. According to the complaint, the trusts’ attorney has stepped away from the matter, several employees have resigned, and the organization has been forced to hire additional private security for staff members, including protection at their homes.

The requested restraining order would prohibit Seaver from contacting or coming within 1,000 feet of She’s Alive employees, attorneys and business associates, and would also prevent him from interfering with the company’s commercial relationships while the legal proceedings continue.

As of the latest court filings, Seaver had not publicly responded to the allegations contained in the restraining order request. Previous public statements from Seaver following his dismissal expressed disappointment over losing his longtime security role and criticized the handling of the estate, but those comments did not address the specific allegations outlined in the new court documents.
