Hotels across Cardiff have reportedly sold out for December 12 as anticipation builds around a potential blockbuster heavyweight fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, with the Welsh capital now considered the frontrunner to host one of British boxing’s biggest ever clashes.

The proposed bout has not yet been officially announced, but reports indicate that Principality Stadium is the preferred venue, ahead of New York’s Madison Square Garden. The 74,000-capacity stadium has previously staged some of boxing’s most memorable nights and is viewed as an ideal setting for an all-British heavyweight spectacle.

The growing expectation has already had a noticeable impact on Cardiff’s hospitality sector. Sources also suggest that December 11 remains under consideration as an alternative date should scheduling require adjustments.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has continued to argue that the contest belongs on British soil despite claims from UFC president Dana White that negotiations have been delayed by disagreements over the venue.

Hearn rejected suggestions that he was preventing the fight from happening, insisting Joshua had even received more lucrative financial offers to stage the bout in the United States. According to the promoter, the former unified heavyweight champion remains committed to delivering the showdown for British fans.

While Cardiff has emerged as the leading option, Wembley Stadium has also been discussed as a possible alternative. Hearn has indicated, however, that the final decision on the location will ultimately rest with Joshua as negotiations continue.
