Antonelli Wins Italian Grand Prix From 19th Place in Historic Monza Comeback

Italian motorsport witnessed a fairytale moment at Monza as Kimi Antonelli stormed from 19th on the starting grid to claim a sensational victory in the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, becoming the first Italian driver to win his home race in six decades.

The 20-year-old Mercedes star overcame an engine penalty that relegated him to the back of the grid, producing a breathtaking recovery filled with daring overtakes, flawless strategy and remarkable composure. His triumph also marked the 50th Grand Prix victory by an Italian driver and extended his lead in the Formula One Drivers’ Championship.
