Victor Osimhen Rejects Al Hilal’s €70 Million Bid Amidst Saudi Interest

Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal has reportedly made a substantial €70 million bid to acquire Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli. The offer includes a lucrative contract, potentially making Osimhen one of the highest-paid African footballers. This move is part of Al Hilal’s strategy to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, where they are set to face top European clubs.

Napoli’s Stance

Despite the tempting offer, Napoli has declined Al Hilal’s bid. The Serie A club values Osimhen highly and is reportedly seeking a transfer fee closer to €200 million. Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has emphasized that Osimhen is under contract until 2026 and is not for sale unless their valuation is met.

Osimhen’s Commitment to Europe

Victor Osimhen has expressed his desire to continue his career in Europe. His agent, Roberto Calenda, has dismissed rumors linking the striker to a move to Saudi Arabia, stating that Osimhen has “so much to do in Europe.” Osimhen himself has confirmed that he rejected a move to Al Hilal, citing his commitment to Napoli and his aspirations in European football.

Al Hilal’s Continued Pursuit

Despite the rejection, Al Hilal remains interested in Osimhen and is expected to make further attempts to secure his services. The club’s aggressive pursuit of top European talents underscores the growing influence and financial power of the Saudi Pro League. Al Hilal’s strategy includes not only high-profile signings but also potential managerial changes to strengthen their team. Victor Osimhen’s decision to stay in Europe reflects his ambition to compete at the highest levels of football. While Al Hilal’s offer was substantial, Osimhen’s focus remains on his career in European leagues, where he continues to make significant strides. Napoli’s firm stance on retaining their star striker further highlights the complexities of high-profile transfers in modern football.
