VDM Denies Defaming Femi Falana, Emphasizes Deep Respect for the Legal Expert

Social critic Martise Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM), has addressed accusations of defaming prominent legal figure Femi Falana, SAN. In a video posted on his Instagram page, VDM clarified that he holds Falana in high esteem and would never disrespect him.

Clarifying the Allegations

VDM explained that his comments were in response to an audio clip from popular Nigerian influencer Bobrisky, who made claims about Falana and his son, rapper Falz, allegedly receiving ₦10 million. VDM emphasized that his intention was never to tarnish Falana’s reputation but to call for transparency and thorough investigation into the matter.

“I only reacted to the call Bobrisky made. He, Bobrisky, was the one that alleged that Uncle Femi Falana and Falz collected ₦10 million. What I said was that I chose not to believe that Uncle Femi Falana would be associated with that, and if he was, I would be disappointed,” VDM stated in the video.

A Deep Respect for Femi Falana

In the video, VDM spoke passionately about his admiration for Falana, highlighting the legal expert’s dedication to representing those who speak against societal ills, government corruption, and abuse of power. He pointed out Falana’s role in defending the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who has been a source of inspiration for VDM.

“One other person he represented that made me love him was Fela Anikulapo Kuti, who is a role model to me. I saw the way he spoke fearlessly, and I emulated everything. So imagine Uncle Femi Falana defending somebody like Fela. How dare I defame him?” VDM explained.

No Intent to Edit the Video

VDM also revealed that he had the option to edit out the part of the video where Femi Falana and Falz were mentioned, but chose not to, as he wanted the allegations to be thoroughly investigated. He reiterated his belief in due process and respect for Falana’s work in defending activists and those speaking truth to power.

General Impact

VDM’s clarification comes in response to public concerns about his comments regarding Femi Falana and Falz. By addressing the issue directly, VDM sought to clear the air, emphasizing his respect for Falana and his commitment to justice and truth.
