Undersea Cable Cut: Telecom Services Restored to Nearly 100%

Swift Recovery Amidst Disruption

Contrary to expectations of a prolonged outage, telecom and banking services disrupted by the undersea cable cut in Nigeria and parts of Africa are now almost fully restored, with service providers working diligently to minimize downtime.

Efforts by Telecom Companies

Telecom companies in Nigeria, which were particularly affected by the disruption, have reported over 90% restoration of services. Engineers worked tirelessly to expedite the restoration process, ensuring minimal inconvenience to customers.

ALTON Chairman’s Assurance

Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman of the Association of Licensed Telecom Operator in Nigeria (ALTON), confirmed the significant progress in service restoration. He attributed any remaining disruptions to backlog congestion caused by the cable cut.

Regulatory Confirmation

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) corroborated the telecom operators’ statements, confirming that services have been restored to approximately 90% of peak utilization capacities.
