Tragic Tanker Explosion in Jigawa Claims Over 90 Lives

The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, DSP Lawal Shiisu Adams. He explained, “Today (Wednesday), a petrol tanker from Port Harcourt going to Nguru in Yobe State reached Majiya village of Taura Local Government Area at around 12:30 AM. The driver lost control at Majiya and fell down.” Adams further described the unfortunate series of events, stating that villagers began to collect the spilled fuel, which ignited, resulting in the explosion.

As a direct result of the explosion, 95 individuals have been confirmed dead, and 50 others are receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
