A devastating road accident has claimed the lives of four young footballers from the Lebwit Football Academy in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as the team was returning from a friendly match in Pankshin. ā
Victims Identified
The deceased players have been identified as Shikritda Goma, Chapbe Gontur, Nenyitwe Gopar, and Dargak Caleb. Additionally, a corps member from Benue State, known as Thomas, who was serving with the team, also lost his life in the crash. The driver of the vehicle was among the fatalities as well.
Injuries and Medical Response
Thirteen other individuals sustained injuries in the accident. Seven of the injured have been treated and discharged, while six remain hospitalized at the General Hospital in Pankshin.

Chairman Lapching Ezekiel Golime of Kanke Local Government, speaking on behalf of the Plateau Football Association and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, also conveyed condolences, noting that the loss would be deeply felt by football enthusiasts across the state.
