Access Holdings, the parent company of Access Bank, has yet to confirm Mr. Wigwe’s death. However, individuals close to the banker have informed PREMIUM TIMES that he, along with his wife and son, were passengers on the ill-fated helicopter.

The Eurocopter EC130 helicopter, operated by Orbic Air LLC, crashed around 10 p.m. local time near Nipton, Calif. The crash site, located east of Interstate 15 near Halloran Springs Road, was reported to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at 10:12 p.m. local time.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the crash, involving an Airbus Helicopters EC-130, remains unclear. The National Transportation Safety Board (N.T.S.B.) and Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) are conducting an investigation, with N.T.S.B. representatives expected to arrive at the scene on Saturday.
