Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old Pakistani TikTok influencer known for her vibrant content and advocacy for women’s rights, was tragically shot dead at her home in Islamabad on June 2, 2025. Just hours before her death, she had shared a video celebrating her 17th birthday, showcasing moments of joy with friends and family.
The Incident
According to Islamabad police, Sana was at home with her aunt when she was approached by her cousin, Umar Hayat, also known as “Kaka.” After a brief conversation, during which Sana reportedly told him to leave, Hayat shot her twice in the chest at close range. She died on the spot. Hayat fled the scene but was apprehended in Faisalabad within 24 hours.
Investigation and Motive
Authorities revealed that Hayat had been persistently trying to contact Sana, and his advances were repeatedly rejected. The motive behind the murder is believed to be linked to these rejections. Police recovered the murder weapon, the clothes worn during the incident, and Sana’s mobile phone. Investigators analyzed footage from 113 cameras and over 300 phone calls during the investigation.
