The Christian community in Nigeria is mourning the sudden loss of Reverend David Ayuba Azzaman, a prominent Kaduna-based cleric and founder of The King Worship Chapel and Ministry. He tragically passed away in a fatal car accident on Saturday, May 24, 2025, while returning from a crusade in Makurdi, Benue State.
A Prophetic Warning Foretold
In a poignant twist, Rev. Azzaman had previously shared a prophetic warning he received earlier this year. On January 29, 2025, he posted on Facebook about a fellow pastor who advised him to pray against the possibility of dying in an accident. He responded with unwavering faith, citing Psalm 91:16: “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation,” expressing his belief that he would not die by accident.
A Voice for the Persecuted
Rev. Azzaman was renowned for his bold advocacy against the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. He frequently condemned the silence of local and international media regarding the plight of Christians, especially in regions plagued by kidnappings and violence. His fearless stance made him a respected figure among believers and human rights advocates.
Engaging in Interfaith Dialogue
Beyond his pastoral duties, Rev. Azzaman was known for engaging in theological debates with Muslim scholars and atheist thinkers. His active presence on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, allowed him to reach a broad audience, fostering discussions on faith and doctrine.
Tributes from the Christian Community
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory expressed deep sorrow over his passing. In a statement, CAN described him as “a courageous preacher, an unapologetic defender of the Christian faith, and a passionate advocate for the rights of persecuted believers.” They acknowledged his role as a prophetic voice and a spiritual father to many across denominations.
A Legacy of Faith and Courage
Rev. Azzaman’s sudden departure leaves a significant void in the Christian community. His unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and spiritual revival continues to inspire many. He is survived by his wife and children, who, along with his congregation and followers, mourn the loss of a dedicated servant of God.
