Reno Omokri Criticizes Tunde Bakare Over Comments on President Tinubu

In a fresh reaction to comments made by Pastor Tunde Bakare on Nigeria’s current state, former presidential aide Reno Omokri has fired back, accusing Bakare of being more of a political rival than a religious leader. Omokri stated that Bakare’s recent statements were not coming from a place of spiritual guidance, but from personal bitterness and ambition.

“Bakare Is Not Speaking As a Pastor” – Omokri Claims

Reno Omokri, a well-known political commentator and former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, stated that Pastor Tunde Bakare’s comments about Nigeria’s leadership were driven by envy and political disappointment. According to him, Bakare is not offering genuine criticism as a religious figure, but as someone who once desired to become president himself.

Omokri said, “Tunde Bakare is not speaking as a pastor. He is speaking as a bitter rival who is covetous of President Tinubu’s position.”

Background: Bakare’s Political Past

Tunde Bakare, a fiery preacher and founder of the Citadel Global Community Church, has long been known for mixing faith with politics. He was once the running mate of Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election and has since made known his ambition to lead Nigeria.

He also contested in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries in 2022, the same race that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu eventually won. Omokri used this history to suggest that Bakare’s current criticisms are rooted in frustration over political loss.

Omokri Urges Nigerians to Look Beyond Titles

Reno Omokri urged the public to separate Bakare’s religious title from his political ambition. He warned Nigerians not to be misled by Bakare’s image as a pastor, claiming his recent words are politically charged, not spiritually inspired.

According to Omokri, true men of God should pray for the nation and offer constructive guidance, not use the pulpit as a platform to push personal grievances.

Mixed Reactions from Nigerians

Nigerians on social media have reacted with a mixture of support and criticism. Some agree with Omokri, saying Bakare has blurred the line between ministry and politics. Others believe that Bakare is simply speaking the truth and holding leaders accountable, which is part of his duty as a spiritual voice in society.
