Queen Camilla Given Pizza to Celebrate 20th Wedding Anniversary in Rome

During a visit to a local school in Rome, Queen Camilla was given a Margherita pizza in a takeaway box as part of the celebrations marking her 20th wedding anniversary with King Charles.

The royal couple is currently on the third day of their state visit to Italy, and this gesture, a taste of local cuisine, was a special moment during Queen Camilla’s visit to the school. The pizza, a symbol of Italy’s famous culinary tradition, was presented to her in a lighthearted tribute to the anniversary.

Meanwhile, King Charles began the day with a meeting with Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, where he received a ceremonial red-carpet welcome at the historic Villa Doria Pamphili, just outside Rome. The King and Prime Minister Meloni seemed to engage in an animated conversation as they toured the 17th-century palace gardens, with Meloni fluent in English and the two enjoying a relaxed exchange.

A military band on horseback lined up in front of the villa to greet the King, who was surrounded by the stunning views of orange trees and vistas extending over St. Peter’s and the Vatican.

Later that day, King Charles will become the first UK monarch to deliver a speech to both houses of the Italian parliament, with part of it expected to be spoken in Italian.

That evening, the royal couple will celebrate their wedding anniversary at a state banquet held at the Quirinale Palace, where the event is likely to feature local delicacies and a distinguished guest list of celebrities and dignitaries.

The royal visit has been warmly received in Italy. On Tuesday, King Charles and Queen Camilla posed for photos with crowds gathered outside the Colosseum, near the ancient Temple of Venus. Enthusiastic Italians shouted “Carlo” as the royal couple greeted the public, with the media taking note of their State Bentley, which was a striking claret color.

Back at Buckingham Palace, a special musical tribute was arranged to mark the royal couple’s anniversary. The Royal Family’s official X account shared a video featuring a brass version of Madness’s 1981 hit “It Must Be Love”, played by the palace guards, celebrating the couple’s long and enduring partnership.
