President Tinubu Mourns Former EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, who passed away on Sunday in Egypt at the age of 61. Lamorde’s death marks the end of a distinguished career in law enforcement and anti-corruption efforts.

Career Highlights

Born on December 20, 1962, Ibrahim Lamorde began his career with the Nigeria Police in 1986. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, concluding his service as a Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2021. His notable contributions include serving as the pioneer Director of Operations and the third substantive Chairman of the EFCC from 2012 to 2015.

Presidential Statement

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngalale, on Sunday, President Tinubu extended his condolences not only to Lamorde’s family but also to his associates, the EFCC, the Nigeria Police Force, and the government and people of Adamawa State.

The statement read: “The retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police was the pioneer Director of Operations and third substantive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from 2012 to 2015. The President also commiserates with the associates of the former anti-graft czar, the EFCC, the Nigeria Police Force, as well as the government and people of Adamawa State.”

Prayer for Comfort

President Tinubu concluded his message by praying to God Almighty to grant repose to the soul of the deceased and provide comfort to his grieving family during this difficult time.
