Police Declare Ihuoma Nneji Wanted Over Alleged Cybercrime

The Nigeria Police Force has declared Ihuoma Julia Nneji, daughter of ABC Transport founder Frank Nneji, wanted on charges of cybercrime, including criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyberstalking. The National Cybercrime Centre issued the alert on April 15, 2025, following allegations that Nneji engaged in a coordinated online harassment campaign against an Abuja-based businessman between August and September 2024 .

Background of the Case

The controversy began when social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), accused Nneji of attempting to blackmail a young man. VDM publicly warned her to abandon the alleged plan, claiming to have substantial evidence against her. In response, Nneji filed a lawsuit against VDM, although there has been little public update on the outcome of the case .

Police Action and Public Reaction

The police’s declaration has drawn significant attention, with many Nigerians expressing surprise given Nneji’s prominent background. The National Cybercrime Centre has urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or report directly to their headquarters in Abuja .

Legal Implications

If apprehended and convicted, Nneji could face severe penalties under Nigeria’s cybercrime laws. The case underscores the growing importance of addressing online harassment and misinformation in the digital age.
