The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended seven individuals involved in the tragic murder of Mojisola Awesu, a 21-year-old recent graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology. The suspects, including the prime suspect, his parents, and four others, were paraded at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin on Friday, August 30th.
The Tragic Incident
Mojisola Awesu was lured to Ilorin by Adebayo Happiness, a dismissed student from Summit University, Offa, under the pretense of acting as his girlfriend at a party for a fee of N15,000. Tragically, Mojisola was murdered in a hotel where she had been lodged, and her body was later disposed of at a refuse site.
Prime Suspect and Accomplices
The prime suspect, Adebayo Happiness, along with his parents, Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi, were arrested following a thorough investigation. Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya disclosed that the suspect’s parents attempted to tamper with evidence by retrieving and concealing their son’s belongings, including the deceased’s iPhone and SIM card.
Hotel Workers’ Involvement
Three hotel staff members, Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Amina, and Bulus Peter, were also arrested. They were found to have discovered Mojisola’s body in the hotel room and unlawfully disposed of it at a nearby refuse dump, rather than reporting the crime to authorities.
Police Investigation and Justice
Commissioner Olaiya assured the public that all suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation. He emphasized the commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensuring justice for Mojisola and maintaining peace and security within the community.
Ongoing Investigation
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover all details surrounding the case. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
