Portable Accused of Defaulting on N14m Payment for N27m Vehicle
The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody the controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, on allegations of failing to settle a debt incurred from the purchase of a 2017 Gle350 .
Reports suggest that Portable, notorious for his provocative persona, entered into an agreement to acquire a Gle350 valued at N27 million. However, despite making an initial payment of N13 million, he has purportedly neglected to fulfill the outstanding balance of N14 million, citing purported faults with the vehicle as grounds for withholding payment.
Dealer’s Complaint Triggers Police Intervention
The unfolding saga began when the aggrieved car dealer lodged a formal complaint with law enforcement authorities, citing Portable’s refusal to honor the contractual agreement. Consequently, police officers were dispatched to investigate the matter, ultimately leading to Portable’s apprehension.
Portable’s History of Controversy
Portable’s recent arrest only adds to his repertoire of headline-grabbing controversies. Previously, he made headlines for pleading with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for leniency after videos emerged of him lavishly spraying currency. This plea came amidst the backdrop of the arrest of Instagram personality Cubana Chief Priest for similar infractions, underscoring the recurring nature of such incidents within Portable’s circle.
Confirmation from Police Spokesperson
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed Portable’s arrest, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations against him. The spokesperson reiterated the details of the case, highlighting Portable’s alleged breach of contract and the resultant legal consequences.
