In a twist worthy of a Nollywood blockbuster, legendary juju maestro, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye — globally beloved as King Sunny Ade (KSA) — has broken his silence, putting an end to wild rumours that he had been kidnapped or gone missing.
The drama unfolded after a storm of controversy erupted on Monday, when Damilola Adeniyi-Adegeye, one of KSA’s daughters, sounded an alarm on social media, accusing her stepbrother and the musician’s manager, Dayo, of allegedly holding the iconic singer hostage. In a series of explosive posts, she called for his arrest and accused him of stealing from the aged music icon.
“Dad told my brother he wants to go home. Where is he? Where are his phones? He’s not online. He’s not picking his calls. Where is he?” she asked in a frantic message. In another, she demanded, “I want Dayo apprehended. I want him to provide all the money they’ve been stealing from him. He has a UK visa, thinking he can run.”
Amid the swirling chaos, fans feared the worst — was the beloved King of Juju in danger?

But like a scene-stealing lead actor walking into the spotlight, KSA appeared — calm, collected, and very much alive.
In a surprise live video shared on Tuesday by one of his wives, Mrs. Bose Olubo-Adegeye, the music icon addressed the world with his signature grace and humour.
“Nobody kidnapped me!” he declared with a smile. “I pray against that. The whole world is in love with me.”
Brushing aside the rumours, KSA confirmed he had been busy doing what he loves — performing live music. He recalled playing at a show in Lekki just days earlier and was en route to another performance.
“I have to thank God and thank you, my fans, for the concern,” he added. “Music is my life. It is my business. Enjoyment continues.”

Acknowledging his children’s love and concern, KSA explained that the misunderstanding likely came from some of them not seeing him recently. “I know my children love me,” he said. “I didn’t go anywhere. This is me.”
With the calm dignity of a legend and the rhythm of a man still in tune with his craft, King Sunny Ade reassured the world: he is alive, well, and still the undisputed king of good vibes.
