MLB Roundup: A’s Rally in 11th for Wild Win vs. Rockies

In a thrilling finish, pinch hitter Tyler Soderstrom drew a four-pitch, walk-off walk from Colorado Rockies reliever Peter Lambert, capping a five-run rally in the 11th inning and leading the Oakland Athletics to a 10-9 victory on Thursday afternoon.

The game took a dramatic turn after the Rockies scored four runs in the top of the 11th inning. Jake Cave and Brenton Doyle hit run-scoring singles off A’s closer Mason Miller, and Brendan Rodgers added a two-run double off Brandon Bielak. However, the A’s responded with Max Schuemann’s RBI double, Abraham Toro’s RBI single, and a two-run, game-tying home run by JJ Bleday off the Rockies’ Matt Koch.

Lambert (2-3) then took over, getting two outs while the A’s put two runners on base. An intentional walk to Kyle McCann was followed by an unintentional walk to Soderstrom, allowing the A’s to clinch their second win in the three-game interleague series.

The Rockies had blown three leads in the final three innings. Daz Cameron, making his A’s debut, homered in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at 4-4. Oakland’s Zack Gelof hit a run-scoring single to even the score at 5-5 in the 10th.
