Pastor Jerry Ezeh, the visionary behind the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) and Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, has opened up about his unexpected journey into the spotlight through prayer.
In a candid conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Pastor Ezeh revealed that he never imagined prayer could become a path to fame. He shared that NSPPD wasn’t even the original name of the program and that the journey began without a formal identity.
“At the beginning, it wasn’t called NSPPD,” he said. “At some point, we asked ourselves, ‘What exactly is the name of this thing we’re doing?’ So we decided to give it a name. Honestly, I didn’t know people could become famous just by praying.”
Pastor Ezeh also reflected on the contrast between his on-screen persona and who he is in everyday life.
“People who know me personally are often surprised,” he explained. “That energetic man shouting every morning? That’s not really me. I’m actually very calm and quiet in real life. I don’t talk much and I choose my words carefully. There’s a big difference between Pastor Jerry on NSPPD and Pastor Jerry off-camera.”
He admitted that the intensity of the daily broadcasts even made it hard for him to rewatch the sessions.
“I couldn’t bring myself to watch the replays,” he confessed. “I’d think, ‘Take it easy, Jerry.’ But every time I go live, something just pushes me—it’s beyond me.”
