“He Stopped Picking My Calls” – Dele Momodu Opens Up on Rift with Wike

Veteran journalist and media personality Dele Momodu has revealed the reason behind his fallout with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike. According to Momodu, their relationship deteriorated after Wike stopped answering his calls, leading to a complete breakdown in communication.

From Friendship to Fallout

Dele Momodu and Nyesom Wike were once known to have a cordial relationship, especially during the 2023 presidential election period. However, things took a different turn when Wike, who was then the Governor of Rivers State, became distant and unresponsive.

Speaking in a recent interview, Momodu disclosed that he tried multiple times to reach out to Wike, but the former governor refused to return his calls or messages. The media mogul admitted that he was unsure why Wike decided to cut ties with him, but he suspected it might have been due to political differences.

Political Differences as a Possible Cause

The rift between the two may not be unconnected to their political affiliations. Dele Momodu, a staunch supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), openly backed Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential elections. On the other hand, Wike, despite being a member of the PDP at the time, was seen aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and later accepted a ministerial position in Tinubu’s government.

Momodu, who has always been vocal about his political stance, may have found himself at odds with Wike, leading to their strained relationship.

Wike’s Silence on the Matter

So far, Nyesom Wike has not responded publicly to Momodu’s claims. The FCT Minister has been focused on his ministerial duties, overseeing major infrastructural projects in Abuja. However, political observers believe that Wike’s growing influence within the APC and his shift away from PDP loyalists may have contributed to his decision to distance himself from certain individuals, including Momodu.

Dele Momodu’s Final Words

Despite the fallout, Dele Momodu remains open to reconciliation. He stated that he holds no grudge against Wike but would appreciate an explanation for the sudden silence. He also emphasized that political differences should not come in the way of long-term friendships and mutual respect. The breakdown in communication between Dele Momodu and Nyesom Wike highlights how political dynamics can affect personal relationships. Whether or not the two will mend fences remains to be seen, but for now, their once-friendly ties appear to be strained.
