The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, Salam Mustapha, , took a critical stance against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng which passing a comment recently. Agyebeng, frustrated with dismissive rulings in corruption cases, warned of potential consequences for the nation’s fight against corruption during a press conference.
Mustapha joining a Thursday panel on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning show, used the opportunity to address both the Special Prosecutor’s concerns and his party’s readiness for the 2024 elections. Mustapha described the opposition leader, John Dramani Mahama, as a “thief” and questioned why the Special Prosecutor hasn’t prosecuted him, citing the Airbus corruption allegations sent to the International Court of Arbitration.
As political tensions escalate, Agyebeng’s frustrations with corruption cases became a focal point. The Special Prosecutor highlighted dismissive rulings, including the acquittal of Cecilia Dapaah and the refusal to freeze Kojo Owusu Afriyie’s estate, emphasizing the challenges in the anti-corruption efforts.
Mustapha, addressing the nation’s political landscape, asserted that the 2024 elections would be a battle of track records between NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NDC’s John Mahama. He argued that the NDC could not match the NPP, emphasizing the need to compare the candidates’ records and pointing to the Airbus corruption allegations against Mahama.
In response to Agyebeng’s frustrations, Mustapha criticised the Special Prosecutor as a “good-for-nothing OSP” and urged him to expedite corrupt cases.
