Despite being locked in a legal battle with social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), prominent human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has reportedly intervened to challenge the legality of VDM’s arrest and detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
This revelation was made by Deji Adeyanju, who serves as VDM’s legal counsel. Adeyanju, who had previously expressed disappointment over what he perceived as Falana’s silence on the matter, took to social media today to set the record straight.

In a post shared online, Adeyanju stated: “I have now confirmed, contrary to my earlier post, that our revered leader and mentor, Femi Falana SAN, has made several calls to the EFCC, challenging the unlawful arrest and continued detention of VDM.”
The development is particularly striking given the ongoing defamation lawsuit between Falana and VDM. The case stems from comments made by VDM while analyzing a viral voice note that alleged Falana and his musician son, Falz, were in communication with controversial internet personality Bobrisky during his recent incarceration.

Falana’s intervention, in spite of his personal grievance with VDM, is being viewed by some observers as a reaffirmation of his longstanding commitment to the rule of law and civil liberties.
