Nollywood actress Joke Jigan has taken to social media to cry out for help after falling victim to a shocking case of theft involving a delivery rider.
Sharing her ordeal on Instagram, Joke revealed that a dispatch rider had absconded with items belonging to her, valued at nearly ₦2 million. Accompanying her post was a photo of the alleged rider and his phone number, which she said he used before blocking her.
“Please, if you know this guy, help me call his number. He’s a rider, and he’s got items of mine close to 2m with him since yesterday, and he’s blocked me from calling him 09133595927. That’s his number. Please help a sister o.”
The actress’s post has sparked a wave of reactions, with fans and fellow celebrities offering support and urging authorities to investigate and apprehend the culprit.
This incident adds to the growing list of Nigerian celebrities who’ve had troubling experiences with dispatch riders and online fraudsters.
Recently, actress Adunni Ade also called out an InDrive rider for ending a trip prematurely and vanishing with her order. Frustrated, she vowed to take extreme measures if her package wasn’t delivered.
Media personality Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi shared a bizarre experience where a delivery rider, tasked with picking up food, took five packs from the order for himself.
Similarly, Yoruba actress Bimpe Akintunde lashed out at an impersonator tarnishing her image and using her identity to scam others. She questioned the nation’s growth when hardworking citizens are constantly undermined by fraud.
Portable’s baby mama, Ashabi, also found herself in a messy situation when a scammer used her pictures and name to deceive people online. The scammer even insulted her, calling her “stingy” and mocking her personal life. In response, she begged fans to report and block the fake account.
Actor Alesh Sanni went as far as placing a ₦500,000 bounty on a woman who had been defrauding people by pretending to be associated with him. He tried to handle things privately but was met with disrespect, prompting him to go public.
These troubling incidents highlight the increasing challenges celebrities face with scams and unreliable service providers.
Back in 2022, singer Peter Okoye of PSquare also raised alarm over cybercriminals using his identity to scam fans on social media. Likewise, business mogul Obi Cubana decried fraudsters impersonating him, particularly on Twitter, where he stated he didn’t even have an official presence.
As Joke Jigan seeks justice and support, her experience serves as another reminder of the urgent need for better regulation and protection against fraud, both online and offline.
