Excitement is building as Egypt’s national football team prepares to compete in the upcoming African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast, with none other than Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah set to captain the squad. Coach Rui Vitoria unveiled a formidable 27-man roster that includes key players from the team’s previous Cup of Nations final appearance two years ago.
Despite the heartbreak of losing on penalties to Senegal in the last final, Egypt’s squad remains strong, with all but two of the starting lineup returning for the upcoming tournament. One notable addition is 22-year-old Ahmed Nabil Kouka, earning his first call-up after contributing to Egypt’s under-23 side’s qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics and representing Al Ahly at the recent Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Grouped in Group B, Egypt kicks off its campaign in Abidjan on January 14 against Mozambique. The team will also face challenges from Ghana and the Cape Verde Islands in the opening round group matches.
