Popular Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, known to the world as Davido, dropped a bombshell on social media on Thursday night. Reacting to negativity online, Davido hinted at leaving the music industry after releasing his next album.
The “Unavailable” hitmaker expressed his frustrations with those who spread false information about him. He stated, “Yall niggas really want me out the game that bad? Oya after next album I no do again. So una fit get peace,” he wrote on his X handle.This isn’t the first time Davido has spoken about challenges within the music scene. He recently commented that many of his colleagues struggle to find peace within the industry.
“Timeless” Era Wraps Up, But What’s Next?
This announcement comes just hours after Davido released the music video for “Kante,” featuring singer Fave. This visually stunning video marks the official conclusion of the “Timeless” era. “Kante” is the 10th track on the critically acclaimed album, which was nominated for a Grammy Award upon its release in March 2023.

Despite the hint of retirement, Davido’s statement also suggests a desire for new experiences. He expressed excitement for The “Kante” music video, released just hours before this announcement, serves as the final chapter for his critically acclaimed fourth studio album, “Timeless.” Whether this translates to a complete departure from music or a shift in focus remains to be seen.
