Davido Responds to Critics Suggesting Seyi Tinubu’s Involvement in Osun Crisis

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed suggestions from some Nigerians that he should involve Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Osun State. Davido clarified that his relationship with Seyi Tinubu is purely personal and does not extend to political matters. He stated, “Nothing he will do! He is my friend! And nothing more! His dad is the democratically elected president, my uncle is the democratically elected governor.”

Background of the Osun State Crisis

The political unrest in Osun State centers around the removal of local government chairmen affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite court rulings ousting them from office, these chairmen have attempted to reclaim their positions, leading to violent clashes and widespread unrest. Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, has called for President Bola Tinubu to intervene and prevent further escalation.

Davido’s Public Critique of the Police Commissioner

Amid the turmoil, Davido publicly criticized Osun State’s Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, accusing him of failing to maintain order during the crisis. He expressed his frustration on social media, highlighting the police chief’s alleged inaction.

Public Response and Clarification

In response to public criticism suggesting he should leverage his connection with Seyi Tinubu to address the crisis, Davido emphasized the personal nature of his relationship with the president’s son. He made it clear that Seyi Tinubu’s involvement in the political situation was neither necessary nor appropriate.
