Comedian I Go Save Raises Concern Over Rising Begging in Nigerian Public Spaces

Nigerian comedian and social commentator, I Go Save, has spoken out about the growing number of people begging in public areas across the country. Known for using his platform to draw attention to social issues, the comedian expressed concern over what he described as a disturbing trend that reflects deeper economic and societal challenges in Nigeria.

A Growing Issue in Public Spaces

I Go Save highlighted how begging has now become a common sight on streets, markets, bus stops, and even in religious and entertainment venues. He noted that the number of people, including children, women, and the elderly, pleading for help or money is no longer just a rare occurrence but something that’s now deeply rooted in daily life.

Not Just About Laziness

The comedian made it clear that this isn’t just about laziness or lack of effort. He acknowledged that many of the people seen begging are victims of unemployment, poverty, displacement, or poor access to education and healthcare. According to him, the government and society at large have a role to play in addressing these root causes.

A Call for Government Intervention

I Go Save urged the government to look into long-term solutions that can reduce the need for people to beg. He stressed the importance of job creation, skill acquisition programs, welfare support, and better infrastructure to uplift the poor and vulnerable members of society.

The Role of Citizens and Communities

Beyond the government, I Go Save called on citizens to show compassion but also to support systems that empower people rather than make them dependent. He encouraged community leaders, NGOs, and religious organizations to contribute to the solution by providing training, shelter, food programs, and counseling services for those in need.

An Issue That Affects Everyone

The comedian reminded people that the issue of public begging isn’t just an eyesore or an inconvenience, it reflects the health of a nation’s economy and social systems. Ignoring it means allowing more people to fall through the cracks, and that has long-term consequences for national development.

Hope for Change

I Go Save ended his remarks with a message of hope. He believes that with the right policies and a collective effort, Nigeria can reduce poverty and restore dignity to those currently forced to beg to survive.
