In her testimony during Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, singer Cassie Ventura clarified that she sought therapy to address post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from her relationship with Combs, not for sex addiction. She emphasized that her treatment focused on processing traumatic memories and coping with the psychological aftermath of alleged abuse.
Rehabilitation for PTSD and Substance Use
Cassie disclosed that in early 2023, she spent 45 days at Willow House, a residential treatment center in Arizona. There, she underwent intensive therapy for PTSD and addressed substance use issues linked to her past experiences. Her treatment included neurofeedback and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapies, aimed at helping her process and heal from the trauma she endured.
Addressing Misconceptions in Court
During cross-examination, Combs’ defense team questioned Cassie about her past drug use and participation in sexually explicit events. Cassie maintained that her involvement in such activities was coerced and that her substance use was a coping mechanism for the abuse she suffered. She reiterated that her therapy was not for sex addiction but was essential for her mental health recovery.
Personal Reflections and Support
Cassie expressed that testifying about her experiences was both challenging and empowering. She stated that sharing her story was a significant step in her healing journey and hoped it would inspire other survivors to come forward. Her husband, Alex Fine, publicly supported her, praising her courage and resilience.
