Mr Ibu, renowned for his comedic prowess that brought smiles to countless faces, succumbed to the relentless grasp of death after a prolonged battle with various health challenges. Despite undergoing surgeries, including the amputation of his leg, his condition continued to deteriorate until he breathed his last at a hospital in Lagos on Saturday, March 2.

The veteran actor’s health struggles were no secret, with complications stemming from blood clotting in his leg and other ailments. His ordeal became public knowledge in October 2023 when he sought financial assistance for treatment. Plans for medical care abroad were thwarted by doctors who deemed him unfit to travel.

Mr Ibu’s absence from the limelight in recent years had sparked concern among fans. In 2019, he made shocking allegations of poisoning by domestic workers envious of his success. Subsequently, in May 2022, he claimed to have been poisoned for the third time.
In an interview with Vanguard Newspaper, Mr Ibu recounted his harrowing ordeal, revealing that he had glimpsed the other side but was brought back to life by divine intervention. Despite adversity and ill will, he expressed gratitude for his survival and the lessons learned.
