Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration took place during a ceremony in Enugu on Monday, drawing top political figures and supporters from across the state.
In his address, Governor Mbah said his decision to join the ruling APC was driven by a desire to align his administration’s development vision with that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, emphasizing that both share similar goals for national growth and economic transformation.
“The aspirations of my administration align with those of the Tinubu administration. We are committed to ensuring that Enugu continues to experience peace, progress, and sustainable development,” Mbah stated.
He assured the people of Enugu that the switch in political platforms would not affect his government’s ongoing projects and reform agenda.
Governor Mbah also took a swipe at the PDP, accusing the party of failing to provide a level-playing field for its members.
“The decision to move became inevitable when it became clear that inclusiveness and fairness could no longer thrive within the PDP,” he said.
His defection marks a major political shift in Enugu State, long regarded as a stronghold of the PDP, and is expected to reshape political alliances ahead of future elections.
