Bill Maher Labels Harvard an “A hole Factory” Amid Support for Trump’s Criticism

In a surprising turn, comedian and political commentator Bill Maher has publicly supported former President Donald Trump’s recent criticisms of Harvard University. During the May 30 episode of his HBO show Real Time, Maher referred to Harvard as an “a–hole factory,” aligning with Trump’s stance on the university’s handling of antisemitism on campus.

Maher’s Uncharacteristic Agreement with Trump

Known for his liberal views and frequent criticism of Trump, Maher’s agreement with the former president marks a notable departure from his usual commentary. He endorsed Trump’s proposal to freeze billions in federal grants to Harvard, criticizing the institution for its perceived failure to address antisemitic behavior among students.

Exchange with Congressman Seth Moulton

During the show, Congressman Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), a Harvard alumnus, defended the university, stating, “you don’t protect Jewish students by cutting off cancer research.” Maher retorted that decisive action is necessary to end anti-Jewish protests and violence on campus, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Personal Interactions Influencing Maher’s Perspective

Maher’s recent dinner with Trump, UFC owner Dana White, and musician Kid Rock at the White House may have influenced his softened view of the former president. He described Trump as more personable than portrayed by liberal media, suggesting a shift in his perception.

Trump’s Actions Against Harvard

Trump has taken steps to penalize Harvard, including attempts to revoke its tax-exempt status and limit foreign student admissions. Although a federal judge recently blocked a move to revoke international students’ visas, Trump emphasized his desire to see more American students enrolled at the institution.

Public Reaction and Broader Implications

Maher’s comments have sparked discussions about free speech, antisemitism, and the role of higher education institutions in addressing hate speech. His alignment with Trump on this issue highlights the complexities of political discourse and the importance of addressing antisemitism proactively.
