Italy’s culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano, has resigned after weeks of mounting controversy over the appointment of his former lover, Maria Rosaria Boccia, as a top adviser. Additionally, junior minister Vittorio Sgarbi resigned after allegations surfaced that he had illegally acquired a valuable Renaissance painting.
Amid the string of scandals, Meloni expressed frustration with her cabinet, urging ministers to exercise greater caution and reminding them of the importance of their roles in government. “We are making history, and we all need to be aware of it,” she said during a recent cabinet meeting. “This does not allow for breaks and pauses, and much less for errors and false steps.”
