Breaking: Ondo APC guber Primary Election inconclusive, Continues today Says Ododo

The governorship primary election of the APC in Ondo State remains inconclusive and will resume on Sunday, according to Usman Ododo, the Kogi State governor and chair of the seven-member committee overseeing the exercise.

In a statement released late on Saturday, Ododo confirmed that the election committee had decided to hold voting in all 13 wards of Okitipupa LGA, where the primary did not occur due to delayed arrival of materials.

“After receiving reports from the 203 wards in the 18 LGAs of Ondo State, the Primary Election Committee has determined that voting will be conducted in all 13 Wards of Okitipupa Local Government, totaling 9,515 validated registered members, due to confirmed reports that the exercise did not take place in the LG due to logistical challenges,” the statement reads.

“The election in Okitipupa Local Government will take place at 12 noon on Sunday, April 21, 2024. The final collation of results will follow thereafter.”

This announcement follows protests by several gubernatorial aspirants over the conduct of the election. While some demanded its cancellation, others alleged irregularities in the process.

Among the people opposing the exercise are Olusola Oke, Olugbenga Edema, Wale Akinterinwa, Dayo Faduyile, and Jimi Odimayo.

Despite criticism and controversy surrounding the primary, the Kogi State governor maintains that the process was transparent. However, reports from Followglobaltrends.com indicate that there was no voting in most wards of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Saturday.

The primary, which was scheduled to occur in 203 wards across the 18 LGAs of the state, is a precursor to the Ondo gubernatorial election set for November 16, 2024.
