Russia-China Relations Reach Unprecedented Level, Says Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared on Tuesday that the relationship between Russia and China had reached an “unprecedented” level following discussions with his Chinese counterpart in Beijing. Lavrov emphasized that the cooperation between the two nations exceeds the military-political alliances of the Cold War era and is not aimed against any third party.

Russian Authorities Tackle Massive Flooding in the South

Meanwhile, Russian authorities are grappling with extensive flooding in the southern part of the country. Thousands of homes have been inundated after the Ural River, Europe’s third-longest river, breached a dam last Friday. The floodwaters are projected to continue rising, particularly in the Orenburg region, posing a risk to parts of the region’s capital.

Ukrainian Air Defense Systems Intercept Attack Drones

In a separate development, Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted 20 “Shahed” attack drones and four missiles from S-300 surface-to-air missile systems, as announced by the head of Ukraine’s air force on Tuesday. The drones were shot down over various regions, including Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Lviv. “Shahed” drones, of Iranian origin, have played a significant role in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The fate of the intercepted S-300 missiles was not disclosed, and CNBC was unable to immediately verify the information provided by Ukraine’s Air Force Commander.
