An inspiring young Nigerian man known as Toyinbo Hezekiah, who, despite starting his education with limited resources, recently broke records by achieving a remarkable feat, Toyin worked as a motorcycle rider to sponsor himself through school and now has bagged a bachelor’s degree with 4.55/5.00 first-class honors at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Sharing his success journey on LinkedIn, Toyin recalled beginning his academic endeavors in a school with a shortage of teachers. According to him, after completing secondary education, she was determined to pursue his university education at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
In order to sustain himself through school, Toyin did a series of menial jobs to see himself through education, like bricklayers, laborers, and even farming.
According to him, his hard work and determination finally paid off, as he obtained a bachelor’s degree in animal breeding and genetics from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Toyin said that many of his classmates knew him as an Okada rider instead of a student. “Most people are not aware that I attended school. They only knew me as an Okada rider. Sometimes, I use the motorcycle to carry bags of cement,” he stated.
He further encouraged people that regardless of their upbringing, they can achieve success if they set their minds to it. Toyin also stressed the importance of self-support, especially when there is no support from family and friends. Looking ahead, he expressed his desire to further research in areas like animal science, biotechnology, breeding, genetics, and agricultural sciences.
