RESTORE COMMUNICATION: RETRIEVE YOUR BLOCKED SIM WITH NIN-SIM LINKAGE

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a stern warning, revealing that over 40 million telephone lines face potential forfeiture due to failure to link with National Identity Numbers (NIN). With the February 28, 2024 deadline passed, the NCC emphasizes the urgency for subscribers to take action to prevent further restrictions on their mobile phone services.

Barred Lines and Forfeiture Risks:

Reuben Mouka, the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, highlighted the consequences of inaction, stating that the barred lines have breached the commission’s deadline. After the next 180 days, these lines will only support texting and calling, and beyond 365 days, they might be forfeited to the respective service providers.

Retrieval Processes: NCC’s Guidance:

To assist subscribers in unblocking their phone lines, the NCC provides a clear guide to the retrieval process. The Director of Publicity outlines the steps that users need to follow:

1. For Unregistered Subscribers:

   – Register your SIM at accredited centers nationwide.

   – Link the NIN with your SIM through channels provided by your service provider.

2. For Registered NIN Holders:

   – Visit your service provider center and present the NIN.

   – Alternatively, link your SIM through channels provided by your service provider.
