Three Women Demand Justice After Alleged Assault by Man at Club in Port Harcourt

Three young women in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have come forward to demand justice after allegedly being assaulted by a man during a night out at a local club. The disturbing incident, which is said to have taken place over the weekend, has sparked outrage online and reignited conversations about women’s safety in nightlife spaces across Nigeria.

A Night Out Turns Violent

According to the victims, what was meant to be a night of fun and relaxation at a popular club quickly turned into a traumatic experience. They allege that a male patron, whose identity is yet to be officially released, physically assaulted them following a verbal disagreement.

Eyewitnesses at the scene claim the man lashed out aggressively, allegedly slapping and shoving the women, leading to panic in the club and the intervention of bouncers and concerned guests.

The Victims Speak Out

In a video shared on social media, the three ladies appeared visibly distressed, showing what seemed to be bruises and emotional pain. They called on law enforcement agencies and the public to help them get justice, stating that no woman deserves to be attacked for speaking up or defending herself.

One of the women stated, “We were humiliated and physically hurt. He acted like he could get away with anything simply because he’s a man.”

Public Reaction

The incident has gone viral on social media, with thousands of Nigerians expressing support for the women and calling for the man involved to be held accountable. Hashtags like #JusticeForPHLadies and #StopGenderBasedViolence are trending, as many people highlight the growing number of similar cases in entertainment venues.

Several human rights groups in Port Harcourt have also offered to provide legal support to the victims and ensure their case is not silenced.

Police Involvement

The Rivers State Police Command has reportedly been notified of the incident. A spokesperson stated that investigations are ongoing, and once the man is identified and apprehended, he will face the full weight of the law.

Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the club to verify the women’s claims and identify witnesses who can corroborate the events.

Women’s Safety in Public Spaces

This case has renewed urgent discussions about the lack of protection women face in public spaces, especially in nightlife venues. Advocates are demanding that club owners, law enforcement, and society at large take proactive steps to ensure women’s safety and respect.

Several social commentators emphasized that justice must be served to discourage future acts of gender-based violence. The brave decision by these three women to speak out against their alleged assaulter has sparked an important conversation and rallied support from Nigerians far and wide. As the investigation unfolds, the focus remains on ensuring that justice is served and that all women feel safe and respected wherever they go.
